Someren - The two edition of the Wim Peters Kwekerijen waste market was a great success. On June 5 the children of the Mariaschool and Leerrijk in Someren organized a waste market on the grounds of the nursery.
On Wednesday, family members, friends and residents of Someren visited the market and together purchased 1950 euros worth of products that would otherwise be "wasted. The purpose of the market was to create more awareness around second choice products that do not find their way to the supermarket because nowadays we expect perfection. We are trying to change that image with this waste market
The proceeds of the market will go to three charities, selected by the children themselves. The choice for Mariaschool fell on KIKA, Cliniclowns and the Pedagogical staff of the hospitals in Eindhoven. The proceeds from Leerrijk will go entirely to KIKA.
In addition to the social nature of the market, the event also ignites entrepreneurship in the children. The children themselves organized and promoted the market. Wim Peters Kwekerijen was facilitating with the support of other parties. A special thanks to Van Gog Kwekerijen, Kwekerij Moors, Thwan van Gennip, Jurrius and both Albert Heijn branches from Someren.
