Sustainability pays off at Wim Peters Kwekerijen
Last week we received the wonderful news that Wim Peters Kwekerijen has won the Green Prize Asten/Someren. A wonderful recognition for our commitment to sustainability, nature and community involvement. We are proud that more and more people are noticing and appreciating our work!
What is the Green Prize? The Green Prize is an award presented annually by the association Groei & Bloei Asten/Someren to individuals or organizations that voluntarily dedicate themselves to public green space or stimulate the experience of green space in the environment.
Our contribution to a greener future At Wim Peters Kwekerijen we have been working for years to create a future in which care for nature and community involvement are central. We do this in close cooperation with local partners, including the Someren municipality, IVN, ZLTO, ORO and several schools.
Some examples of our green initiatives:
- Deployment of biological control agents in cultivation.
- Collection and reuse of rainwater in our greenhouses.
- Creation of herb-rich grassland and hedges to enhance the recreational value of the area.
- Support biodiversity with swallow and worm hotels and promote bat population.
- Partnering with a local healthcare organization to give residual streams (lower-quality tomatoes) a sustainable use.
Proud and grateful The Green Award is great confirmation for us that our sustainable initiatives are appreciated by the community. We remain passionately committed to a greener environment and a healthy future.
