Walking Tour

Around our greenhouses

The tomato route

How many kilograms of tomatoes are produced each year and what natural enemy is used to control whitefly in greenhouses? Visitors can find answers to these and other questions during the tomato tour around our greenhouses. Along the way you will learn about the history, the people behind the company, the cultivation and the way water, energy and nature are handled.

Hummy the bumblebee takes you on a scavenger hunt!
Along the route are information boards with QR codes that provide access to videos and in-depth information on these topics.

For the youngest visitors, a special scavenger hunt with Hummy the bumblebee starts at the Tomato Hut. With a trail map in hand, children can go on a discovery tour, playfully learning more about the fascinating life inside and outside the greenhouse. Tracking cards are available for different age groups.

📍 Starting point: Hoge Akkerweg 10 (near the Tomato Hut)

Let op: het is niet mogelijk om de kassen zelf te betreden in verband met hygiënevoorschriften, certificeringen en het tomatenvirus. De route loopt buiten, langs de kassen.

The Landbouw Innovatiefonds Noord-Brabant contributed financially to the development of the Tomato Route. IVN Asten-Someren contributed its knowledge around the local flora and fauna of the area. This is not the first collaboration between the IVN and Wim Peters Kwekerijen; in 2023 a joint teaching program was set up around composting in 'worm hotels' at several elementary school in the municipality. Finally, mention should be made of Stichting Natuurlijk Someren, which played a role in setting out the route and placing signposts.
